Temple tanks

This has reference to the article "Sacred and social" (December 15). It has taken so long for us to realise the importance of temple tanks and the wisdom of our forefathers who had planned for posterity. We have been not only neglecting to maintain water bodies but also destroying them perhaps in the wrong belief that our forefathers did not know what they were doing. For our callousness and negligence, are we not suffering enough? At least now, we should make an attempt to revive water bodies if we are to survive as a community.
