A Bachchan a day

Imagine working with not one, but two Bachchans

Tanya Zaetta: `I'm not angling for lead roles.' — Photo: R. Ragu

PEOPLE DIE to see one, she has worked with two. Yes, Tanya Zaetta is the girl who is working with two Bachchans in the same film, Shaad Ali's Bunty aur Babli. And no, she is not filling in for an item number. Tanya, the presenter of Who Dares Wins on AXN, is doing a full-fledged role. She finds Big B bewitching and the younger B delicious. "When I got a call from Yash Raj films in London, I asked what's the role like and the moment they said the film has Amitabh, I said, `Book my ticket'."

Tanya reveals she has actually dated Amitabh. "When we were shooting in Agra, he offered me something which turns your lips red." (She can't yet pronounce paan but claims she is working hard to get her Hindi right.) "Here, I am delivering my dialogues in English but in other films, I am supposed to speak Hindi. I know howsoever hard I try, my Hindi will remain accented but I am not angling for lead roles. I am happy playing one of the four girls."

All for jewellery

Not ready to reveal much, Tanya says she is playing a foreign girl who comes to India in search of the seventh richest man in the world. Who is the one? Tanya shuts up but maintains she is looking for one so that she can flaunt the D'damas jewellery, which she came to promote in Delhi. In a fashion presentation, D'damas showcased "DTC diamonds: Nature's Miracle Collection" and unveiled a new jewellery collection, Origin.

In love with the dance movements of the Hindi films, Tanya is learning Bollywood dance movements. "I love them, particularly the ones Ash does. Soon I would be doing an item number as well."

Tanya feels with films like Kisna, Bollywood has truly gone international and there is increasing scope for foreign actors to do films in India.

So who is the better B? "Well, that's confusing. Abhishek has got a wicked sense of humour. He has got style, he is well educated... Amitabh is a role model; I have grown up seeing him as the face of Bollywood in the U.K. I have told him your son looks exactly like you used to look in your early days." Got it.
