Sentimental notes

IF MUSIC is what you are looking for to impress your lady love (or lad love), read on for a preview of an album which is sure to do the trick.

As usual, there are far too many options for Hindi music enthusiasts and one cannot do justice by singling out a specific album. But if you are the kind who likes a firangi flavour, we strongly recommend the album Because I Love You (Sony BMG, three-CD set, Rs. 399), which contains 48 songs spanning over a decade, and each song featuring a different artiste, along with a lyrics book.

Kicking off with the recent favourite "My Heart Will Go On" by Celine Dion, the first CD takes you on a journey of tracks like "Emotion" by Destiny's Child, "Eternal Flame" by Bangles (of "Walk Like An Egyptian" fame), "Feel So High" by Desree and "Take My Breath Away" by Berlin. The second CD features artistes such as Shakin' Stevens ("Because I Love You"), Cyndi Lauper ("Time After Time"), Simon and Garfunkel ("Bridge Over Troubled Waters") and Paul Young ("Wherever I Lay My Hat").

But it is the third CD in the set that makes the album a collector's edition. Tracks such as "Crying" by Roy Orbison (of Pretty Woman fame), "I Go Crazy" by Paul Davis, and "Caravan Of Love" by The Isley Brothers are relatively rare tracks.

The older tracks have been digitally re-mastered for crystal clear sound. It takes older listeners on a nostalgic trip to their college days.
