Only skin deep
I AM happy that you carried an article on the usage of cosmetics in your Animal Talk column (Look for real beauty, February 23). I'm an ardent animal lover and I use only Biotique products. I was aware that many products are tested on animals but I was really shocked to know that animal foetuses are also used. I hope the article serves as an eye-opener to many.

Lasting solution?
PUBLISHING THE article on testing cosmetics on animals and usage of their body parts was a good move. But what happens when the government itself is the violator? We gift animals to other countries, which is not covered by the Wild Life Protection Act. Some years ago when the king of Nepal visited India, birds and animals were slaughtered for puja. Where do we draw the line? Is it simply enough if models and stars wear vegetables to promote vegetarianism?

YOUR ARTICLE for the Food for Thought column (Detrimental Fizz, February 28) regarding the harmful effects of soft drinks on kids could not have come at a more appropriate time. Do continue to publish such articles.

Go natural
I HOPE your article on aerated drinks opens the eyes of both children and their indulgent parents. Children should be advised to consume more tender coconut water and fresh fruit juices instead and give the go by to these empty calories.
