Creative edge

WHAT DOES one do with capsules that have crossed the expiry date? Throw them out, of course. But C. A. John of Kodambakkam does not do so. He has created attractive pieces of art from expired capsules. He has used a dry thorny plant for stem and branches and the leaves and flowers are made of capsules. Thermocol balls are used for the pistils. The arrangement is placed in a terracotta vase. John, who works in a jewellery showroom in T. Nagar, also carves watermelons into beautiful shapes.
