Film for all ages

THE VENUE was Sree theatre in the Satyam complex and the occasion, the audio release of the Tamil film "Amudea".

Everyone who spoke appreciated the title chosen for the film. "`Amudea' is a film for all age groups," said director S. Ezhil, who has films such as "Thullatha Manamum Thullam" and "Poovellam Un Vasam" to his credit.

`Sathya Jothi' Thyagarajan, president, Tamil Film Producers Council, who released the cassette, said, "One should not stop with selecting a good story. The project should be entrusted to a good director. `Amudea' has shaped out well thanks to a committed team."

Music director Deva who received the first cassette was all praise for Sunil who has scored the music for "Amudea". He said, "Sunil has done a wonderful job. He has blended the music in such a way that the words in the songs can be clearly heard. I'm sure the songs will be chartbusters."

"Amudea" is based on a short story by Manimala. Said Ezhil: "When the producers approached me to take up the project, I was hesitant not because of the theme; I was not sure how it could it be translated onto celluloid. Writing screenplay to a short story is no mean task. However, only after finishing the whole script, did we start shooting. I'm happy with the way the film has come out. It's now for the audience to decide."

It's not just the producers (Aim Production) who are new to the field, they have introduced new talent as well — writer Manimala (incidentally, the story appeared in the magazine Devi-Kanmani), cameraman Sivakumar, music director Sunil and lyricist Thamish Amudhan. Jai Akash, Madhumitha, Uma and Ranjitha play the lead while Prakash Raj appears in an important role.
