THE CREAM of Indian archery should be here for the National ranking archery circuit tournament, to be held in Hyderabad from April 3 to 6. The event will serve as the first leg selection to pick the national squad for the 42nd world championships in Spain in June. Many of these marksmen and women have shot India to glory, finding it a place in the world's top 10. Here are thumbnail sketches of some of these skilled exponents, likely to be seen in action at the Lal Bahadur Stadium from Sunday.

Representing Jharkhand, which should sweep the team competitions, Dola turned out for the country in European Grand Prix championships in France, Italy, Germany and Turkey, besides the world championships at New York, the Asian Archery championships in Myanmar and the Asian Grand Prix at Bangkok. Her career's high point should be the Athens Olympics last year. Employed with the Tatas, she's pursuing a B.A. degree.
Chekrovolu Swauro is an inspector with the Nagaland Police about whom a documentary film has been made. International outings include the European Grand Prix championships in France, Italy and Germany besides the world championships at New York and the Asian championships in Myanmar. A devout Christian who never goes to sleep without saying her prayers or placing a Bible under her pillow, Swauro has been representing the country for over five years.
