JENNI TO JLo and now finally, Jennifer Lopez. The dusky diva of pop has come a full circle. After shooting to fame with "Waiting for Tonight" from the album On the 6 and "Love Don't Cost a Thing", the diva made a thundering comeback with "Jenni from the Block" from the album This is Me... Then.

And it's not only the name that changes, but the music too. Her latest album Rebirth is different from her previous albums and the first single, "Get Right" is steadily climbing the charts, mainly due to its infectious flute and trumpet sounds. Read on as the diva reveals her inspirations for the album, and much more.

In "Jenny from the Block", there was a clear orientation towards hip-hop and R&B. The new single, "Get Right" follows the same route. Do you plan to make this a permanent thing?

With Rebirth, I've incorporated a lot of funk sounds. I listened to a lot of James Brown before I started working on the album. So the influence of that sound will definitely come across in the music. All my albums have had a different sound. This one too has an extremely different sound and feel to it as compared to anything that I've done in the past. I want to give something new to people every time.

The summer clubbing scene in India is catching on. Which tracks from your album would you recommend to clubbers?

"Get Right"!

Any specific reason in naming the album Rebirth?

This album felt a lot like my first album. I worked on my first album after going on long a vacation and I did the same with this album. I was way too stressed out when I worked on my first album, and with this one, it was the same. Hence it felt like a rebirth of sorts, a new beginning.

Thanks to the success of your previous albums, and the introduction of the JLo perfume range in India, you have a considerable fan base here who would love to see you perform live. Any plans of touring India?

I would love to. I've heard so much about India.

What would your message be to your fans in India?

Thank you for all your support and I can't wait to see you.

A. VISHNU
