An exhibition of vintage photographs is being organised as a tribute to John Sullivan
|
"ONE MAN'S Ooty," an exhibition of vintage photographs, will be organised from April 8 to 16, at the British Council, as a tribute to John Sullivan, the founder of Ooty and builder of modern Nilgiris.
An initiative by the Save Nilgiris Campaign (SNC), in collaboration with the Association of British Scholars, Chennai and British Council, the exhibition, which is arranged in 13 sections in narrative form, highlights Sullivan's contribution to Nilgiris. The photographs that are to be displayed at the exhibition date from 1860s to 1910s. Though they were not taken during Sullivan's time, they depict as closely and faithfully as possible the Nilgiris of his time.
As part of the exhibition, an illustrated talk on "Reminiscences of Wildlife" by E. R. C. Davidar, wildlife photographer and conservationist, will be held on April 13, 7. 15 p.m., at British Council library. It will be followed by an interactive session with the audience. On April 16, 7. 15 p.m., Shekar Dattatri, wildlife photographer and filmmaker, will give an illustrated talk on "India's wildlife crisis."
The exhibition will be open from 11. 30 a.m. to 6. 30 p.m. on all days except April 10 and 14.
