Let dreams take wings

Want to be an airhostess? Then, the Frankfinn Institute at Nungambakkam is the place to be

IF YOU have always dreamt of flying around the world in pretty uniforms, the Frankfinn Institute of Air Hostess Training promises to provide you with `wings to fly.' With more than 30 branches across the country and ten years of experience behind them, Frankfinn is now in town.

Unlike other grooming institutes that offer short courses, Frankfinn's is a yearlong. "We believe you cannot change characters and personal behaviour in such a short time," says Benjamin Varghese, managing partner. Frankfinn's self-development includes `emotional intelligence, motivation, rationality and empathy' as well as `personal grooming, hair and skin care'. Plus they teach you the more specific training in basic cabin crew, first aid and swimming among other things.

It's obvious Frankfinn takes its training seriously. Students are required to wear a uniform to class and will also have a week's training in Delhi on a real plane. The company has taken an Airbus A300 on lease to provide its students with `first hand experience' in handling oxygen masks and escape routes; skills that you would need as an air hostess or steward.

The daily two-hour classes are scheduled to suit students and professionals. Considering the current rate of growth in the domestic airline industry, Varghese is sure that his students would easily land jobs. "It's Chennai and Bangalore airport traffic that's growing in a big way, since Bombay and Delhi are already congested," says Varghese. "People will be more inclined to hire local people."

The hospitality industry is always an option. "They can get jobs in star hotels, or even in public relations with MNCs," says C. Meyyappan, the other managing partner.

With a strength of 200, Meyyappan and Varghese are optimistic of finding more than that many aspiring airhostesses and stewards in the city. "When this centre at Nungambakkam fills up we will start another branch in Adyar in the next three months," says Meyyappan. For details call 52138282.
