Longest running soap

The serial Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi on Star Plus completed its 1,000th episode last week.

"It's the longest running soap on Indian television. We have written to the Limca Book of the Guinness Book of World Records to make us eligible for the slot," says Ekta Kapoor, producer.

The serial began on July 1, 2000 and Ekta plans a 20-year leap in the story from June, which "will keep the viewer engrossed for some more time".
