Time to rejoice


SPA students are working on a project with street children

The School of Planning and Architecture (SPA) in Delhi conducted its 22nd Convocation Day the other day. In the presence of Rajya Sabha member Karan Singh and renowned city-based architect Raj Rewal, six students were awarded doctoral degree. Besides, bachelor and master's degree were awarded to 131 and 162 students respectively.

Taking forward education for the social good, the School has taken up many projects this year, an important one being the school's association with the School of Architecture and Planning, Chennai, to chart a rehabilitation plan for the tsunami-affected areas of Tamil Nadu.

The students of the School's Architecture Department are also working in a project with the street children of Faridabad to help them in improving their simple skills to preserve the heritage around them. Recently, many children from Faridabad visited the School and participated in cultural programmes.

Also, the SPA has hosted many international and national seminars that attracted scholars from different parts of the world.

Recently, the school organised an international seminar on sustainable habitat in association with an Australian university, Institute of Housing Studies, Netherlands, and The Housing and Urban Development Corporation (HUDCO).Established in 1955, SPA is the oldest institution in the field of architecture and planning. It offers courses in the field of architecture and planning at the bachelor's level and architectural conservation, industrial design, urban design, housing, transport planning and many others at the master's level.
