Say no to fat
OBESITY is a state in which there is a generalized accumulation of excess fat tissues in the body, leading to more than 20% of desirable weight. It invites disability, disease & premature death. Excess body weight is a hindrance leading to breathlessness on moderate exertion and predisposes a person to diseases like arteriosclerosis, (CVD), high blood pressure, stroke, diabetes, gall bladder diseases varicose veins and osteoarthritis of weight bearing joints. These days the percentage of people suffering from these diseases is increasing in multiples all over the world. The root cause of this is the excess fat in the body. Keeping this in view, `Say no to fat' is an awareness programme launched recently at Marredpally branch of La Belle slimming and skin clinic which is Hyderabad's first clinic to be ISO 9001-2000 certified. To make people aware of how to avoid fat in day-to-day life, this programme carries 12 rules to say no to fat:
- Don't keep tempting food around you
- Use small bowls and plates for eating
- Eat slowly and munch properly. Avoid fried dishes
- Request for Butter Milk/Soda/Diet Coke or Pepsi on being offered Tea / Coffee / Cooldrinks
- Don't go for shopping when you are hungry
- When dining out insist on less or no oil
- If you are a non-vegetarian, go for it once in a week.
- Drink at least 12-14 glasses of water everyday
- Don't treat your stomach like a dustbin
- While betting have anything but food as the reward
- Don't check weight everyday. Check once in a week
- Try to be in the company of health-conscious people.
These steps are so known and easy that we all don't think about them at all. But if the same are followed religiously, one can see a tremendous improvement in his/her health.
