If you are a tea-lover, you would like to read these tips.

Warm the teapot by swirling hot water inside. Rinse the teacups with hot water too.

Use one slightly rounded teaspoon of loose tea or one teabag per 6-ounce cup of boiling water.

Let the tea steep for three to five minutes (smaller leaves infuse faster). Don't over-steep or the tea's tannic, bitter qualities will get accentuated.

Gently stir the tea once before pouring.

Teapots with a poorly designed spout will dribble tea on your tablecloth rather than in the cup, so if possible test the pot before buying. Be sure the lid has a catch so that it doesn't fall while pouring. Ceramic and porcelain pots keep water hot longer. Real connoisseurs avoid metals.

Whether loose or in packages, tea should be stored in closed containers and kept in a dry place to ensure freshness.
