"Raahi Matwale" has a slot for home video footage
|
Every week, we receive no less than six home video tapes for the show Alka Saxena
WITH A DIFFERENCE Alka Saxena, Programming Head, Zee News
Zee TV's fixation with `newness' is becoming obvious in its programmes. One programme in the `new' list is the travel show Raahi Matwale on Zee News. Its USP: a slot Aapki Baari where viewers get a chance to air videos about their holidays.
Well, if you were already wondering whether you would like to see holidays of some stranger on your television, then Alka Saxena, Programming Head of Zee News, would tell you that it was done to make the programme "interactive." Every week, the channel receives about six video tapes from across the country besides numerous mails and phone calls to enquire about the date slotted for their video.
"But there's a criterion for choosing the videos. They have to be unique. They should have some newness in terms of place, expression or activity done on a holiday, etc. They should appeal to a wider audience," she explains.
As most people these days possess handy-cams, holidays can be captured beautifully."
The travel show also has slots like Big Bara Break, Choti Chutti, Top Stay, Local Bazar, Travel Tips, Sawaal Ek Chutti Ka and Travel Facts.
"These slots give an overall idea not just about the places or hotels to holiday in but also take you through the entire travel industry," adds Alka. They are aired at 12.30 hrs on Sundays and 14.30 hrs on Saturdays.
