Good news for Jassi's fans, as bosses at Sony TV have given the serial "Jassi Jaisi Koi Nahin" a one-year extension. The soap has not only boosted the ratings for the channel, but has also spawned a merchandising bonanza that ranges from a postal cover envelope, mobile ring tones, games, a designer clothing line of Jassi's Punjabi suits and self-improvement books. And since Jassi has discarded her braces and huge glasses and now looks chic in a new hairstyle, India's beauty industry has got a fillip with Jassi merchandising just about anything from weight-reduction clinics to contact lenses. Says Tarun Katial, vice-president, Sony Entertainment Television: "Beyond just the appeal of Jassi's transformation, the show has a strong storyline. Watch the new twists in the forthcoming episodes."
