Chords and Notes

Pray for India, TS Trinity Sounds, Rs. 50...

The market hasn't heard a good song with a patriotic flavour for quite some time. Here comes the opportunity.

The cover doesn't mention the music composer's name but whoever he is, he has done a decent job.

The title song Pray for India has the throb to make one think about the nation. Anil Kant has done a commendable job with Pankaj Udhas. Anil has shown his range in ghazal with Ibteda Mein and Tu Hi Rab Hai. Jagjit Singh is at his very best in Khuda Se Pyar Karo. The lyrics are moving and support his style. Meri Rooh again by Jagjit rivets with its spiritual content. Go for it if you want to remain in touch with the One Above.

Aapka, Abhijeet Sawant, Sony&BMG, Rs.60

Put your hands together for the Indian Idol Abhijeet Sawant. Raju Singh, Biddu, Prempal Hans and Hardip Siddhu lend some excellent tunes to go with his intense vocals. And what can you find on the cover? Folksy Mohabbatein lutaaunga and oodles of feel good notes — Lafzon mein, Lamha, Yaaron chalo and Janam janam. His singing of Jaana (version of Kumar Gaurav film "Star" and originally sung by the Pakistani brother-sister duo Zoheb and the late Nazia Hassan) with Prajakta Shukre and Dream Girl (again a refreshing version of the title track of the Dharmendra and Hema Malini hit flick), go on to confirm him as the new face of Bollywood playback.
