I will never get into modelling again. It is an over-hyped, brain-dead fare HIMANSHU MALIK

You might take some time to recall the name Himanshu Malik but you will remember him in a snap by the mere mention of 17 smooches, in a film. The engineering graduate of Delhi University, who started his film career as a supporting actor in Tum Bin, became a pin-up rage through Khwaish.
The movie had him in the lead role. His steamy kissing scenes in the movie drew the riveted attention of the public.
He will probably live with the 17-smooch tag forever. Does it bother him any bit?
"It is a necessary evil to have a tag in this business, I might not like the idea that I should be known for those kisses but at least I am known," says Himanshu, who has donned a new look.
"This is for the movie Rain. I am playing a psychotic character in this movie and hence this new image," he explains about his moustache and stylish beard.
Talking about his forthcoming film, Jackpot, Himanshu gives a spin on his bombed movies, "They might be failures at the box office and for the producers but for me they were successes. As an actor, I grew. The journey has made me an eternally positive person." "Jackpot is an action-thriller, which has four characters - Meghna Naidu, Sayaji Shinde, a bagful of money and I. I am playing a Gujarati crooked lawyer who loves money. He and his wife go out on a holiday and stay at a friend's bungalow.
The next morning, they find a dead body in the room with a bag next to it. It has three crores in it. The film deals with money and greed."
Having spent four years in Bollywood, Himanshu is happy with the way his career is shaping.
"I will come out shining," smiles the actor. Once the face of Vimal suitings, now he criticises modelling.
Never again
"I will never get into modelling again. It is an over-hyped, brain-dead fare. It is just the opposite of acting. It is not about you, but about the product you wear. You have to disseminate your presence and be a moving, walking, talking mannequin, whereas acting is just the reverse. One becomes alive as a character. Acting is everything that modelling is not." "Yes, I have gained four-five kilograms, admits Himanshu sheepishly.
"I am not a gym person." Defending his case he says, "Acting is not about dance steps and six pack abs. If you cannot hold your audience with dialogue delivery and facial expressions then being thin does not matter. I am here to sell my art. My physicality comes with it, it is me." Is he living up to his tag in Jackpot also? "I don't remember the number of kissing scenes." Countless? "Less than 17," he laughs.
Whether Himanshu hits the jackpot with his hot sequences or acting skills or both, we'll see.
