YOU'D WANT your skin all mineral? With a down-to-earth glow? Berkowits, The Cosmetic and Skin Clinic, promises to help with its state-of-the-art and natural treatments.
You come back all clear and clean that will still have your fingers sliding on it because it is all so smooth after collagen.
The doctor's nice. "This will relax and stimulate you. Can you see the red light, sir?" I can. And after the beam. "This is for stimulation sir. How do you feel, sir?" You say, eyes closed: "Completely rejuvenated." And records tell you red light therapy is hot and is for stimulation. This is the clinic's latest in skin treatment: Acu Colour Collagen Therapy. Collagen, a gel, skin protein derived from fish, is applied on to the face after the normal facial. Then depending on the texture of your facial skin, a colour will be beamed on to your face through crystallised lens made of vaporised minerals, in fact many colours — red, blue (to cool and sedate) orange, green and yellow (for the intellect). The collagen colour therapy is also used with acupuncture and herbal. "The mix is to secure a balance of energy," says Karishma Manchanda, Director, Berkowits.
All problems
The clinic treats problematic skin of any type, acne, scars, pigmentation and dark circles, not only through collagen, but by its new Intense Pulse Light Laser Therapy as well. The two are combined with traditional methods when required. Skin treatment has a 15-day package. The sessions and treatments depend on a person's requirements. "It is not compulsory to take the entire package. We can assess that. If taken we give a holistic treatment," says Karishma.
Now the hair. You can't get too bald, have thinning, greying and falling hair or have too much of it. (All this is subject to perception!) Treatment for baldness is excellent. Hair bonding — you use hair patches to cover the bald. Hair quality and scalp will be so original that none would know. People would prefer hair weaving before, but 80 to 85 per cent of the clients at Berkowits now prefer hair bonding. With the patch, you can swim, take a good bath, comb, and even make love! Not an inch of the patch will move. And if you want it off there's a clip or tape none can see.
And excess hair? The clinic's intense pulse light laser for hair removal, which operates at varied frequencies, removes hair without the skin getting damaged. The laser session is held for four sessions over four months.
Berkowits also helps you slim down.
It is not just about health looks too. Good health guarantees good looks? you ask. "Whether we like it or not, presentability matters. We can't lie to ourselves. The whole world works on impression — how you look. Isn't it true? Tell me. I understand everyone can't look good. Yes, good looks, you're born with. Berkowits brings in new technologies in skin and hair treatment from the U.S. very quickly to India and in fact in to Canada where they have a branch.
