Kiss of fame

The steamy kissing scenes in Khwaish have made Himanshu Malik a hot star

You might take some time to recall the name Himanshu Malik, but you will remember him in a snap by the mere mention of 17 smooches in a film.

The engineering graduate of Delhi University, who started his film career as a supporting actor in Tum Bin, became a pin-up rage through Khwaish. His steamy kissing scenes in the movie drew the riveted attention of the public. He will probably live with the 17-smooch tag forever. Does it bother him?

"It is a necessary evil to have a tag in this business. I might not like the idea that I should be known for those kisses, but at least I am known," says Himanshu. The actor has donned a new look for his latest film Rain, where he plays a psychotic.

Having spent four years in Bollywood, Himanshu is happy with the way his career is shaping. Right now he is awaiting the release of the action thriller, Jackpot.

"I will come out shining," smiles the actor, who was once the face of Vimal suitings. But, now, he criticises modelling.

"I will never get into modelling again. It is an over-hyped, brain-dead fare. Just the opposite of acting. It is not about you, but about the product you wear. You have to disseminate your presence and be a moving, walking, talking mannequin, whereas acting is just the reverse. One becomes alive as a character. Acting is everything that modelling is not," he says.

Whether Himanshu hits the jackpot with his hot sequences or acting skills or both, we'll just have to wait and watch.
