Concert for a cause

Stay tuned to a fusion concert at Unwind Center

It will be a celebration of Carnatic, flamenco and Western music when Pandit R. Visweswaran (santoor) and three of his pupils, Neil Mukherjee (guitars), Chandrajeet (tabla) and Uma Nambudripad (backing vocals), share the stage at Unwind Center, on May 13, 7 p.m.

Pandit R. Visweswaran has the rare distinction of being the only South Indian to play the Kashmiri instrument professionally. A disciple of Pandit Shiv Kumar Sharma, Visweswaran has presented Carnatic music concerts on the santoor all over the country and abroad. He has cut music albums with John Kaizen Neptune of Japan and Terry Allen of the U.S.

Prior to his performing career, he worked with stalwarts of the film industry such as R. D. Burman, Laxmikant Pyarelal, Hari Prasad Chaurasia, Rajesh Roshan, M. S. Viswanathan and Ilayaraja.

Passes for Live 101 — Concert with a difference are priced at Rs. 50. The concert is in aid of the tsunami rehabilitation projects of `Acts of Mercy'. For details call 55379572 or 55484352.
