Time is now for Star Plus to celebrate, yet again. Time is now for the parivaar to get together, and have fun. The occasion is this year's Star Parivar awards to be held next month.

Not that Star is keeping its viewers away from the selection process. Like the last two years, you would get your chance to vote for your favourite members of the parivaar. The channel would open its lines from this Saturday. All you have to do is SMS `Award' to 7827 or log on to indya.com to click on all the 19 categories.

Viewer voting

For directions, the channel suggests you watch its Nomination Special this Saturday and Sunday and a Jodi Special on May 21.

Says a channel spokesperson, "This is the only channel to bring to life the concept of a perfect parivaar on screen. Also, we have the highest ratings so far in the last two years across all awards shows on TV." Giving figures, she says the Star Parivaar awards had the highest TRP for the last two years. According to TAM, Star Parivaar Awards in its year of institution, 2003, got a rating of 14.6 and 7.2 in repeat shows. In 2004, it got a rating of 14 and 7 in repeat shows."Even the Zee Cine Awards that went out of India last year couldn't beat it. It got a poor 7.5," she points out.

The recently aired, much-hyped show on Sony TV, Aapka Abhijit, got a rating of 4.1.

Sums up Deepak Segal, Head, Content, Star Plus, "There has been so much talk about the Sony TV's show Indian Idol recently. But when you look at the ratings, it is nowhere near us. Even Jassi Jaissi Koi Nahin is not as big as our roll-outs. It is still difficult to defeat shows like Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi and Kahaani Ghar Ghar Ki. "
