Seema, a hit package

`Kumkuma' brought actress Seema attention and appreciation in equal measure

She was first noticed because of her big beautiful eyes. However, the attention soon shifted from her appearance to her work as an actress, as one witnessed fresh talent bursting forth in the form of Seema. It seemed here was a young girl out to prove her flair in the field of showbiz. No one knew who this new entrant was and where she hailed from. "Though my mother tongue is Telugu, I was born and brought up in Mumbai. My name is actually Jayalakshmi," Seema introduces herself.

Taking so effortlessly to the media activities as she did, we wonder if anyone else in Seema's family has been a part of this industry. "Yes, my dad is a director (V. Krishna Reddy) and we have been associated with the industry for a long time. Showbiz has always been a part of our lives." So it was not quite surprising for Seema's family to find this educationally sound girl throw caution to wind and take showbiz by the horns. "But then my family saw my work and I did not need any words for the pride that was evident in their eyes at my accomplishments." In fact she has found her "biggest fan and also her biggest critic" in the form of her dad.

When Seema initially started work her instant reaction was that "it's tiring and very demanding but all the effort is paid back once people come up to you and show their appreciation." She had earlier worked in SVK's film, Amma, Bomma, Ayudham, a couple of Tamil films and now Kumkuma .

People to arts

To be an artist was not something that Seema had planned. It was a coincidence that her fields of interest steered her towards this path. "I have a deep interest in people, personalities, lives and experiences. I felt acting was the best way to express myself ." So she made up her mind to make her niche in the performing arts.

On whether showbiz is a career or a hobby for her, she says, "You can say I love my work, which makes it both a career and a hobby for me." And then she quips, "My motto is to give your best and be a good human being." What can one say? We can safely assume that Seema is in the glitzy world for good.
