Celluloid cut `Sancharram', a film by Lily Pullapally
Made By Women is back. Presented by Hyderabad Film Club in collaboration with Point of View, Mumbai, the International Women's Film Festival-2005 featuring animation, short and feature films made by women, promises to be a visual treat.
Participating in the festival are renowned filmmakers from Iran, Finland, Israel, United States, Norway, France, Australia and other filmmaking majors.
This year the festival pays tribute to Lotte Reiniger, one of the pioneers of animation film. Most of the films that will be screened have bagged rave review and awards earlier, including Joan Gratz's Mona Lisa Descending A Staircase (Academy Award for Best Short Film, Animated 1993). Sancharram by Lily Pullapally is the Indian entry by the US based filmmaker that takes on the lesbian premise.
From narratives that speak of stages in life of a woman to profiles of sidewalk musicians in Paris, the scope of the celluloid festival is vast. Films will be screened at Sri Sarathi Studios Preview Theatre, Ameerpet, opening May 20.
