Living in glasshouses? Now you can throw stones at others. Read on
|
Imagine a wall of glass that does not shatter when struck by a burglar's iron rod, or on impact from a bomb blast, or from a rioting mob's stones or even during an earthquake. You would have called it science fiction a few years back but today technology has made it possible. The Ace Indo-Canada has introduced a special series of security laminates in India, which when applied on normal glass makes it bullet and bomb-blast resistant.
Last week in a live demonstration at the Delhi Flying Club at Safdarjung Airport, people witnessed how this thin laminate acts as armour against potential threats to life and property. People tried their hand at the laminated glasses with hockey sticks and aluminium rods but the glass could not be broken, rather many sticks broke.
"With threats ranging from rioting mobs to break-ins, from bombings to shootings, it makes sense to make your house and property threat proof," says Bhavjit Jauhar, Chief Operating Officer, Ace Indo Canada.
It is a well-known fact that most of the injuries caused by bomb blasts or seismic activities in urban areas are due to flying glass. The security laminate makes it virtually impossible to get the glass broken and cause damage.
"Limited life time warranty, high clarity content, protection from the ultra-violet and thermal radiations are the key advantages of this laminate," says Inder Pal Uberoi, Vice President, Sales and Marketing of the company.
The price of the product ranges from Rs.210 to 450 . After applying the laminate, as the time passes the glass becomes stronger. Even in case of fire the laminate does not let fire spread. "Moreover the grills on the windows are not required once your glasses are laminated," adds Jauhar. "However, we are not claiming permanent security, we are simply providing an option to the people," he further adds.
