http://www.upsc.gov.in/general/civil.htm: They are the chosen ones. They are the ones that have been literally handpicked from the thousands who aspire to get here. They are the builders of modern India, the framework of the administrative architecture of the nation. They are the civil servants.

CAT

http://www.coolavenues.com/mbasp/index.php3: The Common Admission Test or CAT as it is popularly known, is a multiple choice written exam designed to test a candidate's ability and aptitude, under a time constraint. Held by the IIMs, CAT has now become the entrance examination for several other leading institutes.

XLRI

http://www.xlri.edu/: Each year in August, XLRI invites applications for admission to its programmes through advertisements in major newspapers and magazines in the country as well as through announcements displayed in major universities and colleges. Apart from admission into XLRI, this exam score is a valid judging parameter for a lot of other premier management institutes in India.

The GRE test

The GRE measures skills that are acquired over a long period of time and are not related to any specific field of study. The skills measured include the test taker's ability to analytical writing, verbal ability and quantitative skills.

TOEFL

http://www.ets.org/toefl/overview.html: The Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) measures the ability of non-native speakers of English to use and understand North American English as it is spoken, written and heard in college and university settings. Most people who take the TOEFL test are planning to study at colleges and universities where instruction is in English. In addition, many government agencies, scholarship programmes, and licensing/ certification agencies use TOEFL scores to evaluate English proficiency.

http://www.iitk.ac.in/gate/: The Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) is an all-India examination conducted by the seven Indian Institutes of Technology and the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, to identify meritorious and motivated candidates for admission to postgraduate programmes in engineering, technology, architecture, science and pharmacy at the national level.

Global English

http://www.ielts.org: The IELTS (International English Language Testing System) test provides an evaluation of English for those who wish to study or train in English. It is very similar to the TOEFL required by North American universities and colleges. IELTS is a test jointly managed by the University of Cambridge, ESOL Examinations, British Council and IDP Education, Australia. The test is accepted by many professional organisations in Australia and New Zealand.
