UP Tourism in association with Delhi Tourism is organising Kabab Mahotsav at the Dilli Haat.
On till this Sunday, with the ambience overpowering with elaborate welcome gates, waiters dressed in their traditional Lakhnawi kurta pyjama, the most enticing part is aroma of scrumptious kabab.
In the past, Nawabs of Lucknow used to have family cooks called khansamas or bawarchis. The successors of those traditional bawarchis are still there residing in mohalla Bawarchi Khana of Lucknow.
They are still practising their ancestral art of cooking.
The visitors can taste delicious cuisines like boti, kakori, galouati, shami, resma seekh, jafrani kalmi, hariyali kababs, vegetarian shami kabab, Awadhi gosht, Awadhi murg biryani and sabz navratan pulao.
You may not like subz navratn pulao as it excessive use of kewda while Awadhi murg biryani is quite oily.
If you have sweet tooth, then there are various option for you. From phirni zaffrani, shahi turka to kulharh wali kulfi and so on.
To add to the royal experience is special itr of Lucknow, Ayurvedic hukka kept on the table and traditional Mughlai pan as a digestive.
Cultural evenings are also organised for the gourmets. In "Aaj ki shaam aap ke naam" one enjoyed Kathak dance by Surabhi Singh, a disciple of Guru Arjun and Birju Maharaj, besides ghazals by Kamal Khan.
"This festival is just the beginning. We would be planning to take this concept to Mumbai and other cities" said the Managing Director of UP tourism.
