More spice to the show

It's entertainment galore at the five-day MetroPlus Lifestyle Show 2005 that begins today at Chennai Trade Centre

Music that courses through the veins. Clothes that redefine fashion. Accessories that match your taste. Home ware that stuns you with sheer variety. Food that leaves you asking for more. It's all there at the five-day Metroplus Lifestyle Show - 2005 that's being inaugurated by cine star Jyothika, today at the Chennai Trade Centre, Nandambakkam (10 a.m. to 8.30 p.m.)

The musical soirees presented in association with the Unwind Centre are a cocktail of sounds. This evening at 6, metal band Vishnu from Delhi will play a scintillating list of covers that take in Elvis, Zeppelin, Mr. Big, Bon Jovi, Hendrix, Megadeth, Metallica, Slayer, Annihilator and Iron Maiden. For Vishnu, music is a means to relate to others. Even the band was "forged more with bonds of friendship than strains of music". Vishnu's show will be followed by some groovy tunes from the turntable. The evening will draw to a close after Prithivi Chandershaker tinkles the ivories.

June 11 will witness a rare diversity of sounds as the world music band Olodum will make use of exotic percussion instruments. Renaissance and Eclipse will rock the gathering. To strike a balance, the turntable will take a mellow route, playing sentimental songs that are as much for listening pleasure as for shaking a leg.

On June 12, Black Earth from Bangalore will present a blend of funk, rock and metal, showcasing its influences that range from Metallica to Pink Floyd. `KRASH', a quickly formed combination, keeps us guessing. However, it promises to be an excellent fare, with the cream of the crop making up the band - Aubrey of Moksha on bass, Willi from Bhoomi on the drums, Joshua from Garage Monsters on the guitar and Vishal of Powder In The Ashtray providing the vocals. Then, Leon Ireland, RJ Suchitra Ramadorai, Saroop, Prithvi, Freddy Koikaran and Geo Raj will provide an out-and-out retro fare.

June 13 is for those with a restless pair of feet. The evening promises rap, R&B and hip-hop by Franklin, Mario Young, Mohammed, TJ and Sergio. The turntables will also be busy providing non-stop leg-shaking music.

But if you are looking for music with that typical namma Chennai flavour, watch out for Anoorada Sriram aka Chennai Girl. In a show presented by Maruti Swift, on June 11, the playback singer will belt out some of her run-away hits. For those looking forward to a comic interlude, there's going to be a rib-tickling session by Vikram Sathaye, famous TV anchor and stand-up comedian.

Can there be a lifestyle show sans fashion? For those hooked on fashion, there's a major show happening featuring top names from the ramp world. Aditi Govitrikar, Aryan Vaid, Zulfi, Tapur et al will be there in three catwalk rounds choreographed by Achala Sachdev. RmKV, Provogue and Diamond Trading Company will showcase their creations, while chief guest matinee idol Kamal Hasan, will grace the programme on June 11, 7. 30 p.m.

That's not all, in between shopping binges don't be surprised if you run into cine stars who will descend on CTC for live Take Twos.
