A different tune

Yuvan Shankar Raja and director Selvaraghavan bond well. Last week, they were in Bangkok, composing and recording music for their new film "Puthupet". The film, starring Dhanush as a hit man, is a realistic film on Chennai gangsters. He is shooting the film on 35 mm and blowing it up to cinemascope to give that raw edge. Remember that gangster films always had top quality background score, be it Coppola's "Godfather" or Varma's "Company". Similarly, Selvaraghavan and Yuvan are exploring new sounds in "Puthupet". Along with the Bangkok Symphony Orchestra, they have recorded theme music of 10 minutes duration, which, Yuvan says, will be the "first of its kind".
