Bollywood flop show

Ex-actresses in the South are getting a new lease of life through television. They are raking in the `moolah' by acting in TV serials, anchoring shows and at the same time, doing mother's role in films. But in Bollywood, stars who have given the small screen a shot, have come a cropper. The latest to join this group is Hema Malini whose "Kamini Damini" on Sahara One is being wrapped up due to low TRPs. The list featuring big screen stars who were damp squibs on TV reads like a who's who of one-time Bollywood show stoppers — Madhuri Dixit ("Kahin Na Kahin Koi Hai"), Sridevi ("Malini Iyer"), Manisha Koirala-Anupam Kher ("Sawaal Dus Crore Ka"), Karishma Kapoor ("Karishma") and Raveena Tandon ("Sahib Biwi Aur Ghulam"). It is clear that movie and television are very different when it comes to audience perception. Even a top male star like Govinda had failed on TV. The only exception is the Big B who was able to rake in mega TRPs with his KBC. Well, that's a different story altogether.
