Raring to go

After the successful `Arya,' Anu Mehta is looking forward to `Nuvvante Nakishtam'

MILES OF SMILES Anu wishes to do meaningful roles

A calm demeanour and good looks can be a lethal combination for the silver screen and if it is matched with a committed performance then you have an act to watch out for. Nuvvante Nakishtam is her second film and Anu Mehta is raring to give her best performance. In the Telugu film industry, an actor is as good as her last film. One of the important reasons for Anu's popularity is her success in her last film, Arya.

"It was a memorable experience being a part of a successful film like Arya and it was wonderful working with Arjun and Shiva Balaji. Arjun is a terrific dancer and Balaji is very hard working and a spontaneous actor. For a debutante you can't ask for more, great story, supportive co-stars and director," she observes.

Talking about E.V.V. Satyanarayana's film Anu says, "the character that I playin this movie is of an emotional and determined girl. The girl has lot of changes in her life, and how she copes up with the changes to better her life forms the crux of the story. I don't want to reveal more of the character and the story," she says.

Whether she is willing to reveal for a good film, she says, at the cost of sounding prudish, "there is a difference in the way glamour is shown on screen. I do know that the peck has become a familiar sight in our films, and I am against showing skin. . My aim is not only to win acclaim, but also to do meaningful films and offer my full potential to any role that I portray."

Anu says her slim frame is not the result of any crash diet. "I've always been like this but for Arya I had to gain weight. The Telugu audience love to see chubby girls and also there was a little bit of manipulation by the camera. Even for this film I was asked to put on some weight. I am a sports person so my body is very flexible."

About her choice of films, Anu says, "People back home say that I am signing only Telugu films. It's just a coincidence. In fact I still remember all my dialogues from Arya. I love Hyderabad and would want to come here again and again. Right now I'm focussed on my work and will settle down in a couple of years," she says.

Anu shuffles her academics and career systematically. "I'm doing my bachelors in computer applications and fashion designing. I just make time for everything. I finished my exams sometime ago and in this gap I'm here for this film. Arya just happened. I started enjoying every minute of work and now it has become a passion. I am very lucky to be here. For me acting is life, it's living. Acting is not work for me. Thankfully, I didn't have to struggle much and signed a film without a proper portfolio. Now, I want to become a successful actress," she says.

"My mother is my best friend. She believes I need to have more space for myself. And she manages to run my day beautifully," she concludes.
