MELODIOUS TRACKS Star-studded show

It was a case of action speaking louder than words. The audio release function of the film "Priyasakhi", produced by P. L. Tenappan, was marked by the screening of three songs from the film at the Abirami Mega Mall, which were well appreciated mainly for their cinematography.

Earlier, music director Harris Jayaraj released the audiocassette and actor Simbu received the first cassette. There was no speech by any VIP. The MC of the evening spoke on behalf of the producer, director, the music director and the lead artistes.

Music director Bharadwaj has tuned some melodious numbers. The first song in the album, "Kangalinal", has been penned by Viveka and rendered by Harish Ragavendra and Janani Bharadwaj. It has good rhythm, which is sure to strike a chord with the listeners. The two singers have done well, particularly the new find, Janani, yet one could not help thinking that S. P. Balasubramaniam would have done a better job.

"Priyasakhi", the title song, has been written by Thenmozhiyal and sung by Srinivas and Anoorada Sriram. Though the song is good, one doubts whether it will be a chartbuster, for something is missing in the tone of the singers.

Hariharan sings the best song in the album "Chinnamaharaniye", written by Pa.Vijay.

"Anbu Alaipayuthe", sung by Unnikrishan, Karthik and Reshma, is a Carnatic-based number. Written by Snehan, the song is refreshing.

The song "Muthal Muthal" has two versions — one rendered by Uma Maheswaran and the other by Chitra who of course shines.

About the film, director K. S. Adhiyaman said "Priyasakhi" was a remake of his Hindi film "Shadi Karke Phas Gaya", starring Salman Khan and Shilpa Shetty.

In this film too, the lead players, Madhavan and Sada, have done a wonderful job. He added, "Every other day, a cassette release function is being held in the city. That is why I told the producer to let our film speak for us."
