Soft romance

Priya V., a former assistant of Mani Ratnam, is making her directorial debut with "Kanda Naal Mudhal". The film, produced by Prakash Raj, has two new boys, Prasanna and Karthik, with a bubbly Laila in the lead. Like her mentor, Priya has woven a gossamer romance with some peppy music by Yuvan Shankar Raja. Says Priya: "It's a feel good, romantic story about friendship, set against a family background. Laila fits into the role so well, while the guys are simply terrific." Yuvan's songs, have already struck a chord with youngsters, especially the "Eri Malai... " song rendered by Shankar Mahadevan and Vasundhara Das. The camera is by P. C. Sreeram and the film releases in September.
