Easing traffic congestion

One-way out

Authorities have taken measures such as removal of encroachments, widening of roads, installation of signals and construction of flyovers and subways to ease traffic congestion. But the proliferation of vehicles has nullified these efforts. Lack of parking facilities and reckless driving worsen the problem. There should be a coordinated effort by the Government, traffic police and the public for better results. Provision of adequate parking facilities in busy areas, without causing any hindrance to the traffic, and construction of more flyovers and subways are the need of the hour. If not, declaring some of the congested roads as `one-way' is the only way out.
