COMBO COMPLEXION Try home remedies for beautiful skin
I measure 5"5' and weigh 63 kilos. I want to particularly reduce my waistline (36 inches). Can you suggest an ideal diet. I also have dark circles around my eyes even though I sleep well. I wear power glasses.
To reduce the waistline, you can do some stretching exercises daily. Stand with legs slightly apart, raise your arms and bend towards the right. Bend as much as you can. Try to touch the thigh and leg with the right hand as far as it can go. Come back to position and bend on the left side, the same way. Repeat five times on each side. As far as diet is concerned, you can cut down on fats, carbohydrates and sugar, but do not eliminate them totally. Include fresh fruits, salads, sprouts and unsweetened curd in your daily diet. You should consult your doctor before making changes in your diet and taking up regular exercise. Dark circles can be due to nutritional deficiencies, stress, hereditary factors or habitual wearing of spectacles. You can mix cucumber juice and potato juice in equal quantities and apply around the eyes daily, washing it off with plain water after 15 minutes.
I have a combination skin and slightly dark complexioned. When I wash my face it becomes dry and later turns oily. I have small pimples too. I want to go in for facials and bleaching. Would like to know what kind of facial is suitable for my skin and how frequently? Will it help me have a flawless and glowing skin?
Nithya
You can wash your face with a mild glycerine soap. Apply an astringent on the areas which are oily and prone to pimples. You can either buy an astringent, or apply cucumber juice, which is a natural astringent. For pimple-prone skin, the facial should consist of cleansing, toning and mask, in case you are thinking of having a salon facial. You can have a salon treatment once a week. As a home remedy, apply curd on the face daily and wash off with water after 20 minutes. It will help the complexion and also the pimple problem. Add a few drops of rose water to sandalwood paste and apply on the pimples. Leave on for an hour.
I am 25. I always had thick, long hair. But for the past 5 years I am having severe hair fall. My hair also has split ends. Despite trimming, they re-occur. Suggest some remedy.
Sophia Bellarmin
It looks like your hair has become excessively dry and weak. You should avoid tying the hair with rubber bands and using a hairbrush. Use only a wide-toothed comb. First cut off the split ends and then give your hair regular oil treatments. Twice a week heat pure coconut oil and apply on the scalp and hair. Do not rub the hair. Then dip a towel in hot water, wring out the water and wrap the hot towel around the head, like a turban. Keep it on for 5 minutes. Repeat the hot towel wrap 3 or 4 times. This helps the hair and scalp absorb the oil better. Use a mild herbal shampoo whenever you wash your hair. Use less shampoo and rinse well with water. Once a week, apply curd on the hair half an hour before your shampoo. This softens the hair and prevents breakage.
I have unwanted hair on my eyebrows and I am extremely conscious about it. Is laser treatment permanent solution?
Rahul
You can get the excess hair removed at a men's parlour. The best thing would be to remove with a tweezer. That is how eyebrows are usually shaped. Each hair is held with a tweezer and pulled out. Of course, this is not a permanent method. Stray hairs will grow again and will have to be pulled out. I don't know if laser will be useful since it should be done carefully. Find out the details by visiting a laser clinic. Anyway, this is not something you should worry so much about.
I am 20 and have hair fall problem. For the past 2 months I have been using a revitalising hair oil. Will it help?

Hair loss is due to several reasons dandruff, nutritional deficiencies, stress and thyroid imbalance. Try to identify the cause in your case. Regular hair care and nutritious diet are necessary for healthy hair. Once a week, apply oil the night before washing your hair. Use a mild shampoo to wash the hair. Rinse thoroughly with water. The scalp should be kept clean. You can also have weekly henna treatment. Include a small bowl of sprouts in your daily diet and ask your doctor to prescribe vitamin and mineral supplements. Also, ask your doctor if you need a thyroid imbalance test. It is done by a simple blood test and can be treated with medication.
I have oily skin and acne scars on my face. There are also tiny boils on my back and chest. Kindly suggest some home remedies to remove the scars.
Nithya Laxmi
If the acne eruptions have stopped, you can use a facial scrub daily on the areas with scars. After washing with a medicated soap, use the facial scrub. Curd mixed with rice flour can be used as a scrub, or you can buy a scrub for oily skin. Apply and rub gently on the skin, washing off with water. You can mix rose water with lemon juice in equal quantities and apply on the face. This would also help the complexion. On the boils on the back and chest, apply sandalwood paste. Three times a week, use a facemask. You can mix 3 teaspoons oatmeal with two teaspoons curd and one teaspoon honey. Apply on the face and wash it off when it dries.
Can you suggest me a simple home remedy to get rid of blackheads? The skin near my nose appears dark due to blackheads.
Blackheads make the skin oily. So, you should use a cleanser for oily skin. Buy an astringent and mix it with rose water in equal quantities. Keep in a jar and use this lotion to wipe the area with blackheads. Then mix rice flour with rose water and apply this on the area. Rub gently on the skin and wash off. Do this daily. If the blackheads are stubborn, you can have them removed at a beauty salon and then follow the treatment recommended. This would help to prevent blackheads and keep the pores free of oil.
