Curtain raiser

Salaam Namaste (Hindi)

Shriya all ready to set the screen on fire in their forthcoming venture

It almost sounds blasphemous - Yash Raj Films, the epitome of tradition and culture and good Indian values, making a film about a couple living together before marriage.

Nick is a chef, Ambar is a radio jockey and they are a happy, cool, hip couple hanging out in Melbourne - the tulips and Amsterdam have been given a break. They move in together - the relationship is chaste though with the two living in separate rooms. Do they discover love and compatibility?

Post media blitz for Hum Tum and Bunty Aur Bubbly, we have been snowed in with promos of Salaam Namaste. Wonder if this quirky take on the neo-urbanite in the Yash Raj world will do for director-writer Siddharth Raj Anand what Hum Tum did to Kunal Kohli.

Theatres: Sangeet, Sensation, Maheshwari

Mogudu, Pellaam, O Dongodu (Telugu)

Raja

With just three characters dominating the scene, the film generates lot of interest and one can hope for a laugh riot with Brahmanandam at the helm. Raja and Shriya play the romantic lead, while the veteran comedian plays `dongodu'.

Brahmanandam.

Director Venky — of Kabaddi Kabaddi fame — directs this `experimental' film while Kabuli is being introduced as the music director.

Theatres: Odeon Deluxe, Prasads Multiplex, Satyam, Prashant
