Site for blood donors
BharatMatrimony Group started BharatBloodBank.com, a website that helps people in need of blood contact donors. Donors across India can register themselves on the site after going through the basic requirements for donating blood. They will have to provide their contact information like residence, office or mobile number and email address. A person can register his or her friends by entering their e-mail addresses.
It will also have a database of doctors categorised by locality.
As for the recipients, their work is made easy as they can search for donors near their locality. Since only phone numbers will be made available, the recipient will have to fix an appointment with the donor.
The website also lists tips and information on blood donation and names of other blood donation banks. The services offered by the site come free of cost and the information entered will not be used for any commercial purposes, says their press release.
The group kick-started the initiative with its employees organising a `Save a life - Blood Donation Camp' at Umapathy Arangam in the Anand Theatre Complex, Anna Salai.
