Showtime Special

We continue our preview of the upcoming Frankfurt Motor Show

Tripod for two

With the 20Cup, Peugeot will tease visitors to the Frankfurt Motor Show with a glimpse into three-wheeled motoring. Designed by the Peugeot Style Centre, the 20Cup reveals a number of technological advances that will feature in future models.

This sporty three-wheel roadster combines the motor car and the motorcycle to stunning effect, incorporating a single rear wheel and a side-by-side, two-seater cockpit. Confirming its presence in high level motor sport, Peugeot recently announced its commitment to competition through the Le Mans Endurance Series. The 20Cup in a more conventional form, but drawing much of its inspiration from the vehicle exhibited at the show, will presumably form Peugeot's basis for the development of a presence on the racing circuit.

The 20Cup is powered by a new petrol engine, the first example from the cooperation between PSA Peugeot Citroën and the BMW Group. This engine, which features a range of highly innovative technical advances, develops a power output of 170 bhp and drives the rear wheels via a sequential six-speed manual gearbox, controlled by paddles behind the steering wheel.

Super Lexus

Lexus's parent company Toyota, is quite a dominant player in the F1 circuit. But surprisingly, they have no car that can be a flag-bearer to the company's racing activities. Enter the Lexus LF-A supercar concept. The LF-A's engine produces more than 500 bhp, yet has a displacement of less than 5000cc. The vehicle also has an exceptionally compact design, with very short front and rear overhangs, and a perfect front-to-rear weight balance, essential to achieving the best possible high speed handling and stability.
