SUCCESSFUL STINT Surekha Vani was at her best in `Moguds-Pellams'

Sunrise mocktail, Spaghetti Neapolitan, exotic Jinga Jalpari and Lamb chops Asada. Now, ways of whipping up exotic food from across the globe can be learnt right in your drawing rooms. Last week, Zee Telugu started the telecast of its exclusive cookery segment with Zee Dhaba.

Telecast on Saturdays and Sundays, the bi-weekly show showcases exotic food and comes in different segments such as `mocktail', `food facts', `kitchenware' and `utilities'. Each episode serves two dishes, one main and one side, with a mocktail.

And stirring and mixing the stuff in an interesting way are Chef Raju and Jayalakshmi.

Doubly disadvantaged

Where is Surekha Vani these days? The popular anchor who achieved stardom with her hugely successful Moguds-Pellams show on Maa TV appears to have failed in replicating her success with other concepts.

Though the Moguds-Pellams was going strong with her and Sivaji Raja, Surekha appears to have been dumped unceremoniously and since then, the show clearly failed to recover.

The move appears to have affected both the show and the anchor as well.

Surekha these days can be found in the company of Vanisri for Atha Kodallu on the same channel. But the spark of Moguds-Pellams apparently is missing in her!

Have it neat Clean humour is a rare commodity on Telugu channels. In the name of comedy, most productions end up dishing out crude scenarios, which hardly could be categorised as family viewing.

And most stick to the beaten trackand usually end up repeating same storyline and situations.

If neat fun is what you are looking for, then tune into good old Doordarshan.

Sitaram Chitapatalu on weekends is one show that is neat in its presentation, effective in the humour department and is backed by good performance.

The serial is a very good example of possibilities of a clean humour at a low budget.
