Ginger Court is the new food court hub in Hi Tec City
|
THAT'S CHIC An inside view of Ginger Court
If food court is the new trend in mainland Hyderabad, can the neighbouring Hi Tec City stay far behind? So, enter a multi-level Ginger Court on the road that leads to Cyber Towers.
A typical afternoon finds software expats and techies drop by for Campari, Glenfiddich and oh-so-succulent kebabs at the flagship fine dining restaurant Ginger Court. Bamboo chics and thread curtains are often tucked up here and you have a sun-bathed diner that is abuzz with cheerful chatter. Traditional teak wood upholstered with silk intermingles with the bright yellow and orange checks' black metal furniture from the ice cream parlour below. "This is a spacious restaurant," says N. Kiran Kumar, general manager, Ginger Court.
Cuisine wise, Kumar adds, the multi cuisine menu has a predominantly Schezwan fare, an exhaustive Thai spread which also forms a part of the lunch buffet, Classic stroganoff and rest of the Continental delicacies and a generous helping of robust festive spread from the dum pukht tradition. Like the char grill Afghani raan as also a variety of kebabs, including options in gobi and paneer Tandoori subzi and Paneer goli kebabs. The calorie rich offering from the upcountry Punjab is yet another section of the menu to die for.
Move over to the al fresco Galaxy, with granite topped tables and black metal chairs for that rustic charm. This is a place for pathar (stone), tawa and grill offerings. Pathar ka murg as also the machli, kaleji, gurda and bheja along with tawa chicken or a mushroom sure look appetising. Pahalwan IT Singhji de kofte are the high cal koftas recommended for body builders. From the home kitchen is a rich Daadiji da pulao made with fresh peas and carrots from the kitchen garden here. Looking for a sinfully spicy dish, how about the Bevqoof bananewalah murgh made with fresh chillies? Killer dish this and no no if you don't like spicy stuff.
Other attractions in the food court are the lounge, Elixir a spacious old world place with a collage of Robbie Williams, Beyonce, U2 and rest of pop/rock icons to bring you back to the now. And a dessert and ice cream bar that serves halwas, soufflés and more. On the anvil, "is a drive by snack counter Spicy Bytes that would offer snacks, ice cubes, napkins and rest of party needs, a chaat counter, and a seven course premium lunch buffet with Scotch whiskey or beer and a food festival in October," says Kumar. Incidentally Ginger Court is from the same promoters who brought the savvy Hot Shoppe at Road No 36 earlier. So. Parking is another USP of the place.
Need to pop champagne for that team celebration? You know where to go.
