A royal trip

LUXURY TRAINEach coach is named after some of the best places PHOTO: PAUL NORONHA

Deccan Odyssey, the super luxury train that runs only between October and April, is back in action for 2005. This year, the train will take tourists on a seven-day journey through Mumbai, Ganapatipule, Ratnagiri, Sindhudurg, Tarkali, Sawantwadi, Goa, Pune, Aurangabad, Ajanta and Ellora and Nasik.

Each coach is named after some of the best places and forts of Maharashtra. The train is done up in stylish interiors and offers delicious cuisine. "This fully air- conditioned train has been benchmarked with the best luxury trains in the world such as the Blue Train of South Africa and the Orient Express of Europe. We were happy with the response we got last year. Even foreigners were overwhelmed with the royal treatment they received," says Prithviraj Patil, General Manager, Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation.
