Animation has come off age in Indian cinema with the success of "Hanuman", a biopic which traces the birth of Hanuman, his supernatural antics and super powers as Lord Rama's favourite lieutenant in his war against Ravana. Hanuman is the universally accepted superhero who symbolises faith and Indian culture. The voiceover for Hanuman is done by Mukesh Khanna. "Hanuman" has good special effects to lure kids away from Cartoon Network. Though it's just been two weeks since the film released with 150 prints across India, early indications are that "Hanuman" is set to spur a wave of Indian animation feature filmmaking. The film surprised the trade when it became a hit with the multiplex audience in Mumbai and Delhi. It is releasing in Chennai this week, and the Tamil version is expected to come out soon.
