VISTAS! The fashion show organised by Pearl Academy of Fashion
The other day, the youngsters of Pearl Academy of Fashion displayed creativity with technical and material expertise. The graduating students of the Academy displayed their final design collection at the fashion show, titled Portfolio-2005, held at New Delhi's The Ashok hotel.
The ideas behind all designs varied from a display of human feelings to philosophies of life and also innovative scientific ideas like body implants. The students also expressed their concerns and beliefs in the area of interest that led to practical, feasible and functional solutions to the problems of declining Indian handicraft, needs for maternity fashion wear and messages for a healthy lifestyle among others
The Fashion Chairman of Pearl Academy, Deepak Seth, said "This year the students have successfully experimented with new technology and new materials like digital printing and others. The collections are an astonishing amalgamation of new technology, contemporary ideas and Indian heritage." Sponsored by Hero Honda this event saw the collections exhibited by renowned models like Sapna Kumar, Laxmi Rana, Sonalika Sahay, Poonam Nath and Sohini Jaitley.
An eminent jury comprising fashion designers Rakesh Thakore, Sonam Dubbai, Dastkar's chairperson Laila Tyabji and Head of buying house-Monsoons, India, Farah Siddique was invited to evaluate the collections.
