Fashion beyond anorexia

MAKING A STATEMENT A model flaunting a Revolution outfit

Time is not for finding that picture perfect, hour glass figure, that straight out of a modelling assignment look. Time, insists, Nisha Somaia of the specialised women wear store Revolution, is to look for those umpteen numbers of real, strong yet vulnerablegentle yet firmhomemaker, career maker, wife, mother, sister, daughter, and lover in our homes. It doesn't require models and celebrities, but a real woman to flaunt its outfits, adds Somaia.

And celebrating this, Revolution, the store for women's western wear in large and regular sizes at Greater Kailash in New Delhi, has just unveiled their winter collection.

Says Somaia, the brand's Director, "Before Revolution was born, women who need larger and regular size outfits were forced to take to Indian traditional clothes as either there was no choice in Western wear or it was very limited, as the fashion market is anorexia driven. To fill this gap in fashion wear came Revolution and today, it has a large and loyal clientele that spreads across the world." Besides its GK outlet, it has two other outlets in Delhi and is also into retailing garments elsewhere.

Giving an idea about the latest collection, Jacqueline Meston, who heads the brand's design and product team, says, it offers a chic and comprehensive range and a certain element of fashion can be seen in each garment. Jacqueline says, "Since we believe, old is beautiful, outfits with a vintage look akin to those worn by the Hollywood stars in the 1940s, is the focus of this season. The look is understated femininity."

Black is back

Black being the dominant colour of these outfits, she says, "Black is black" in sheers and opaque. Though, the season will also see many bright colours with a huge emphasis on green.

Revolution, specialising in waistlines between size 28 to 44, offers outfits at a price ranging from Rs 399 to 2999.
