For the tech savvy

CET is organising a two-day fete `Urja'

`Urja' signifies the energy that pervades the universe, symbolises the supreme and is manifest in every living individual. Thus, when it came to choosing a theme for their technical festival, the students of the Electrical Department, College of Engineering, Trivandrum, zeroed in on `URJA.' The two-day technical festival, URJA of CET, is slated to be held on January 6 and 7. More than 30 colleges are expected to participate in the festival.

"At `Urja,' we showcase a plethora of technical events akin to those seen at the Indian Institutes of Technology," says Arun Raghavendran, convener of the event. Apart from conventional events like Paper Presentation, Best Manager and Circuit Debugging, the tech fete features new and challenging events like Electrical System Design and Robotic Counter.

A working model exhibition is planned and as a part of this the organisers plan to conduct a science fair also. This will be open to school students as well and those who would like to exhibit their models may submit their ideas to the organisers.

"The exhibition is intended to bring out the ingenuity and skills of the youngsters," says Nibi T. Babu, programme coordinator.

All details regarding the exhibition as also the festival have been put up on the URJA website www.urja06.com .

"Amidst the festive fervour of Christmas and New Year eve, the students are also looking forward to the success of this long cherished project," says Krishnan Kutty, Professor of the Department of Electrical Engineering at CET.
