Art takes wing

GOING GREEN Puran Singh Chuda's Poppat series uses the motif of playful parrots

Puran Singh Chuda does not believe in leaving "any space empty." The fine arts student from MS University, Baroda, and National Institute of Design, Ahmedabad, is presenting his Poppat series — with the motif of playful parrots — at Ambara from today.

Puran says about his paintings: "My stroke with the brush is mostly focussed on the life I spent in my hometown, Chuda. I experiment with warm and bright colours of yellow, red, blue, green and orange on handmade paper."

Puran, a member of one Gujarat's oldest Rajput families, is an avid conservationist and environmentalist and has worked tirelessly towards preserving heritage buildings. Puran sketches in black ink and his works effortlessly straddles the real and the surreal. The exhibition is on from 10.30 a.m. to 7 p.m. till January 14.

Ambara is at 119, Annaswamy Mudaliar Road, Ulsoor.

Phone: 25572829.
