Viru's new venture

Non-vegetarian dishes get a boost during the winter, as people who love this type of food combine partying with kababs and the like. Not all though.

India's ace opener, Virender Sehwag, who opened his food outlet Sehwag's Favourites at the TDI Fun Republic in West Delhi's Moti Nagar not long ago, sticks to vegetarian specialities. Sehwag, who seems to be following in the line of his illustrious seniors Sachin Tendulkar and Saurav Ganguly in converting his charisma into culinary delights, refrains from commenting on the restaurants of his teammates, but says, "Mine is for the people and for their health only. All the food would be vegetarian so that everyone can enjoy it."

Hoping to open a Sehwag's Favourites outlet in "every corner across the country, so that it can reach out to the majority of the common people," the dashing batsman, whose restaurant is a joint venture with Creative Stride Taste Buds, promises to open one in Ludhiana soon.

"The trend today is to stay physically fit and possess a healthy mind. Therefore the food provided at Sehwag's Favourites would be healthy as well as delicious."

Reaching his fans

The director of Creative Stride, Siddharth Dilawari, says, "The basic idea of this joint venture is that Sehwag wants to reach his fans through the medium of his favourite healthy food. The cuisine has been decided after due deliberations and exchange of ideas between the industry experts and the batsman."

Stating that all Creative Stride food courts will have Sehwag's Favourites, he adds, "The menu for Sehwag's Favourites has been chosen after consultations with Sehwag himself.
