From home to ramp
Grihashobha, the popular women's magazine organised Vastram, an annual dress designing competition for its readers at Ansal Plaza Amphitheatre in New Delhi the other day. This competition provides a platform to housewives and young designers to showcase their talent. It gives them a chance to participate and come up with innovative ideas.
Eminent personalities from fashion, television, the press and the film world were invited to judge the show. Mini ramps were constructed too. This is the fifth year of Vastram. The earlier shows were held in Delhi, Mumbai, Bhopal and Ahmedabad. To extend the breadth of activities, monthly competitions were organised to lead up to the finals. Competitions for cookery, poetry writing, drawing, floral arrangements, etc. were also held at the same venue. Prizes were given to the winners on the spot. The main idea behind this competition is to recognise the readers' talent in different fields. The competitions surely have brought some unknown talents to the fore.
