After a debut indie release and double Platinum album, the band was into what lead singer/guitarist Ryan Key terms "distractions." So, after their 2003 Capitol debut, Ocean Avenue and touring that followed, Key and bassist Pete Mosely moved to New York City to do some song writing. The rest of the band joined over and they soon headed to LA's Sunset Sound studios. The result: an album that moves away from songs about break ups onto themes of artifice, war and adulthood with tougher guitars, intricate songs and a wider spectrum of musical styles, including a 25-piece orchestra conducted by violinist Sean Mackin.
