Pongal attractions

Five films are to be released this Pongal. Among them two are remakes from hit Telugu action entertainers. "Aathi" is a remake of "Anthanokkade" in which the hero (Vijay) and heroine (Trisha) are out to take revenge on the villain (Sai Kumar). The highlights of "Aathi", directed by Ramanna, are racy narration, twists in the storyline and chartbuster songs by Vidyasagar picturised in never-before-seen locales.

"Paramasivan" is a sort of comeback film for Ajit and the action adventure is directed by P.Vasu. It has all the commercial elements in the right mix. Ajit is paired with Laila while Jayaram and Vivek take care of the comedy. There is an item number by Rahasiya. It is another revenge drama where Ajit plays a convict in the first half. Vidyasagar has scored the music.

Silambarasan's "Saravana" is yet another action film, a remake of "Bhadra". The hero becomes the protector and one-man-army to save the girl he loves. Jyothika plays his love interest. The film has an item number by Meghana Naidu. The direction is by K. S. Ravikumar and the music by Srikanth Deva.

"Pasakilikal", scripted by Kalaignar Karunanidhi, and starring Prabhu, Murali and Navya Nair, is about sibling love.

Vijaykanth's long-delayed action movie "Perarasu" has also been scheduled for Pongal.
